Nelson de la Querra
Nelson has been part of the bee life since he was a young boy. After school he joined the South-African Police Service during which time he started farming bees part time. Soon he was known as the bee man in the Police Service, who always got calls if there was a problem with bees in the area. At that stage he had about 300 hives.
Nelson and his wife started QBEE HONEY FARMERS in 1997, from their garage. They only supplied small local shops. Soon the word spread about his good quality honey products and the business started growing. At that point he had to decide between the two jobs he loved, and in the end it was beekeeping that won
In 2005 Nelson and his wife Lynette, bought Klapmutskop Byeboerdery which consisted of 1200 hives that were used for pollination services and harvesting honey. He soon realized he was going to need business partners for the bottling side of the QBEE HONEY FARMERS business, and who better than his two brothers, Jan and Herman. The business expanded quickly, and today we can proudly say we are the biggest producers of pure South African honey and intend to remain so for many years to come.
