Herman de la Querra
Herman is the eldest of the three brothers. They have been working with bees since childhood with their father, who taught them the discipline, respect and necessary skills to be successful in life, as well as in beekeeping. Herman was a part time bee farmer but by 2005 the beekeeping had grown too big for weekend farming and he exchanged his corporate office for the opportunity of pursuing his passion for bee farming full time.
The area in which he farms stretches from Swellendam in the Southern Cape, all the way to De Rust in the Klein Karoo. His business’ name ‘Outenikwa Byeboerdery’, derives from the beautiful mountain range near George and the vast green fields.
Honey that is harvested include: Eucalyptus, Fynbos, Lusern. Pollination services include: Apples, Pears, Plums (in the Langkloof area), Onions (in the Klein Karoo)
In 2012 QBEE HONEY FARMERS bought ‘Abie Goussard Byeboerdery BK’ in Oudtshoorn which Herman manages full time. Since then, Herman and his son, Jacques, formed a Partnership, where Jacques now manages Outenikwa Byeboerdery.
